Build the foundation. Shape the future.

An inspiring team

We’re a fast-moving startup building next-generation battery systems for drones and electric aircraft. At Tulip Tech, you won’t just follow a test plan — you’ll write the playbook. We’re a small, hands-on team that values smart thinking, building fast, and doing things right.

Help us power the future of transportation with batteries that fly.

Build the numbers that make flight possible.

Before You Hit “Apply”

Tulip Tech doesn’t have decades of financial processes waiting for you. We’re migrating into Exact, we rely on some external support, and right now, there’s plenty of Excel in the mix. You’ll be the one who sets up structure, builds dashboards, and connects finance directly to strategy.

If you’re looking for a role where you just review monthly reports, this isn’t it. If you want to be hands-on with the numbers, guide the team, and sit at the table when key business decisions are made — keep reading.

Your Mission

As Business & Finance Controller, you’ll be both hands-on in the details and strategic in the big picture. You’ll build budgets, forecasts, and cash flow models yourself — while also translating those numbers into insights that guide the CEO and management team.

On a practical level, you’ll take care of day-to-day financial control: making sure invoices, payroll, and bookings are correct, supporting our Finance Admin, and keeping Exact up to date. At the same time, you’ll step back to ask the bigger questions: What does this mean for our growth? Can we scale production safely? Do we have the cash to invest in new hires or equipment?

This is a role for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves to get the numbers right, but also wants to be the person who connects finance to strategy. You’ll be the one making sure Tulip Tech grows fast — but never blindly. And as we scale, you’ll have the chance to grow into our future Head of Finance or CFO.

What You’ll Do

  • Build budgets, forecasts, and cash flow models (Excel/Sheets & Exact)
  • Provide clear reporting and insights directly to the CEO and management team
  • Guide and coordinate the Finance Admin and external accountants
  • Ensure compliance with tax, CAO, and subsidy requirements (with external support)
  • Set up and improve financial processes as we migrate into Exact Online
  • Create dashboards (e.g. Power BI/Tableau) for business performance tracking
  • Support funding discussions with banks, investors, and stakeholders
  • Be a sparring partner for strategic decisions — balancing growth and control

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Finance, Economics, or Accountancy
  • 5+ years of experience in business control, financial control, or a similar role
  • Strong hands-on skills in Excel/Sheets and comfort with ERP/accounting tools (Exact is a plus)
  • A mix of hands-on execution and strategic insight
  • Experience coordinating finance admin and external parties
  • Knowledge of compliance and reporting (tax, CAO, subsidies)
  • Proactive, ownership-driven mindset — you set things up yourself

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary between €4.500 – €5.500 gross/month (based on experience)
  • 38 paid days off per year based on full-time (25 vacation + 13 ADV via CAO Metaal & Techniek)
  • 8% holiday allowance, travel reimbursement, and pension via PMT
  • Daily lunch provided by the company
  • A startup culture with team outings and events
  • Freedom to shape your role and take real ownership

Your new office

Den Bosch area

In 2020, Tulip Tech was founded by Bernd Rietberg and Olivier Witteman. Their goal? To make high quality battery systems to enable the drone revolution and sustainable passenger e-flight revolution.

Following up from their project of building a passenger drone, they concluded that safe and high energy density battery systems are essential in aviation and robotics. Simultaneously, their partner network grew and this enabled them to leap further than before.

Over the years, the team has grown and gained valuable experience in R&D and production.
